CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the United States Marine Corp and the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday (July 20).
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award recognizes programs which posted a 3.30 or higher GPA over the 2019-20 academic year. All players who practice or play during the season are factored into the team GPA. The Cavaliers earned the award for the first time since 2004.
A record 1,313 teams earned the recognition across all collegiate divisions and high schools. The AVCA Team Academic Award dates back to 1992-93.
