MELBOURNE, Australia – Former Virginia men’s tennis players Dominic Inglot is competing at the Australian Open, which runs from February 8-21 in Melbourne, Australia.
Inglot and his partner, fellow Brit Luke Bambridge, will face Jiri Vesely and Aljaz Bedene in the opening round.
This is Inglot’s 34th time playing in a Grand Slam and his ninth appearance at the Australian Open. He has advanced to the quarterfinals in Melbourne three times.
This will be the 45th consecutive Grand Slam event in which at least one former UVA men’s tennis player has competed.

2/12- Inglot and Bambridge prevailed in about as tight of a match as one can have, picking up a 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7) win over Veselt and Bedene. They will face the No. 9 seed team of Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Filip Polasek of Slovakia as the third match on Court 8 on Feb. 13
2/13 In another close match, Inglot and Bambridge fell 6-4, 7-5 to the 9-seed Dodig/Polasek.
