Virginia Men’s Swimming to Compete at 2021 ACC Championships

The Virginia men’s swimming team will compete at the 2021 ACC Championships Feb. 24-27 in Greensboro, N.C., at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s swimming team will compete at the 2021 ACC Championships Feb. 24-27 in Greensboro, N.C., at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The four-day meet will have prelims and finals each day, with the full event schedule on VirginiaSports.com. Wednesday finals will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday swimming prelims and finals are set for 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

Live results will be available on VirginiaSports.com and Meet Mobile. The ACC Swimming & Diving Championships will be streamed on ACC Network Extra, with coverage of both the preliminaries and the finals.

IN THE RANKINGS

  • Virginia’s men are ranked No. 10 in the CSCAA Poll.
  • Other ACC teams in the rankings are No. 5 NC State, No. 7 Louisville, No. 13 Virginia Tech, No. 15 Florida State, No. 17 Notre Dame, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 22 Georgia Tech and No. 25 Pittsburgh.

HOOS IN THE LEAD

  • Virginia finished runner-up at the 2020 ACC Championships.
  • Keefer Barnum (Louisville, Ky.) earned All-ACC honors in the 200-yard breaststroke last year. Barnum enters the meet with the top time in the ACC in the 100-yard breaststroke and is second in the 200-yard breaststroke.
  • Matt Brownstead (Port Matilda, Pa.) holds the top time in the conference in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.
  • Justin Grender (Cincinnati, Ohio) paces the ACC in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Jack Wright (Wexford, Pa.) is fifth in the ACC in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Max Edwards (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has the fifth-fastest time in the ACC in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Sean Conway (Round Hill, Va.) is third in the league in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Sam Schilling (Excelsior, Minn.) is fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and Casey Storch (Great Falls, Va.) is fifth in the 400-yard individual medley.

UP NEXT

The women’s NCAA qualifiers will be announced on Wednesday, March 3 and the men’s NCAA qualifiers will be announced on Wednesday, March 10. UVA’s divers will compete at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships March 8-10 in Morgantown, W.Va.
