Emma Navarro Named ACC Freshman of the Week for the Fourth Time

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis player Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) is this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday (March 9) by the conference.

Over the weekend, Navarro had two dominant wins on the top singles court. Against Louisville, she won 6-2, 6-0 against Nikolina Jovic before topping Cameron Corse of Notre Dame 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday.

Additionally, she partnered with senior Rosie Johanson (Vancouver, Canada) for a 6-0 victory on the top doubles court on Sunday.

Navarro has started her collegiate career with a perfect 9-0 record at No. 1 singles and has only lost one set in ACC play.

This is her fourth ACC Freshman of the Week honor after also earning it Jan. 26, Feb. 2 and Feb. 23. She was also named the ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 2. Her teammate Hibah Shaikh (Teaneck, N.J.) was the named Freshman of the Week on Feb. 16.
