CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 14 Virginia women’s tennis team (8-2, 4-1 ACC) hosts Virginia Tech (3-8, 0-5 ACC) on Saturday, March 13 at 1 p.m. at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort

ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES

  • Due to health and safety considerations, in addition to the current guidelines for sports venues set by the Commonwealth of Virginia, attendance for UVA home men’s and women’s tennis competitions will be limited to the family of student-athletes and coaching staff until further notice

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • The Cavaliers remained at No. 14 in this week’s ITA team rankings. Individual rankings in singles and doubles have not been updated since the preseason
  • Virginia looks to play its first match in its new stadium after having to play both matches last weekend on the indoor courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club
  • Virginia picked up a pair of 6-1 victories in last weekend’s matches against Louisville and Notre Dame
  • Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season after going 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles (a 6-0 win against Notre Dame’s top doubles team)
  • Navarro has started her collegiate career with a perfect 9-0 record at No. 1 singles and has only lost one set in ACC play
  • Senior Rosie Johanson (Vancouver, Canada) and junior Sofia Munera (Periera, Colombia) are each on four-match win streaks in singles
  • Senior Vivian Glozman (Bellevue, Wash.) and junior Amber O’Dell (New Milford, N.J.) are 5-0 in doubles this season, all coming on the No. 3 court 

NOTING VIRGINIA TECH

  • The Hokies picked up a 4-3 victory in a midweek match at Marshall on Wednesday after dropping matches last weekend at home against Louisville (5-2) and Notre Dame (4-1)
  • Senior Nina Sorkin and freshman Tamara Barad Itzhaki lead the team in wins, each with six
  • Virginia leads the all-time series 40-5 and has won the last 24 meetings. Virginia Tech’s last win over UVA came on Oct. 18, 1997 

ON THE HORIZON

  • Virginia hosts Clemson and No. 13 Georgia Tech next Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21 before closing out its month-long homestand on Saturday, March 27 against No. 6 Duke
