Virginia Swimmers Conclude Night Six at U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials
OMAHA, Neb. – Three Virginia swimmers competed in finals at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials on Friday night.
The night started with the women’s 200-meter breaststroke final. Ella Nelson finished fifth in the final with a time of 2:25.10.
In the men’s 200-meter backstroke, incoming swimmer Jack Aikins finished seventh with a time of 1:57.90.
Kate Douglass rounded out the finals for the Cavaliers in the 100-meter freestyle. Douglass, who already qualified in the 200-meter individual medley, finished seventh overall with a time of 54.17.
The Cavaliers had three swimmers in the women’s 800-meter freestyle prelims. Leah Smith finished 10th, putting her in position as a reserve for Saturday’s final. Smith posted a time of 8:36.10. Paige Madden finished 13th with a time of 8:39.27 and Maddie Donohoe was 16th in 8:43.81.
