Armstrong Named ACC Co-Quarterback of the Week
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Quarterback of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 7).
Armstrong keyed the Cavaliers’ offense in their 43-0 victory to open the season against William & Mary. He finished the game completing 21 of 31 attempts for 339 yards. His passing total was the most ever by a Virginia quarterback in a season opener and the highest among ACC QBs. It marked the second time in his career he threw for more than 300 yards in a game.
Armstrong had scoring throws of 5 and 65 yards and ran for a pair of scores from 2 and 3 yards. The 24 points he was responsible for ties him for seventh in the nation. In the second half, he completed 11 of 13 passes for 257 yards (an average of 23.4 yards per completion). Armstrong ranks No. 18 in the nation in passing efficiency (180.89).
The weekly honor is the first of Armstrong’s career and first awarded to a Cavalier signal caller since Bryce Perkins was named Quarterback of the Week twice during the 2019 season.
