CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team has announced its 2021-22 schedule. The Cavaliers will host one tournament in the fall, the Wahoowa Invitational, as well as the ITA Atlantic Regional. In the spring, UVA hosts ITA Kickoff Weekend matches and 10 duals at their home indoor and outdoor courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
The Cavaliers open the fall portion of the schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational Sept. 17-19. The Boar’s Head Sports Club will also host the ITA Atlantic Regionals Oct. 22-25.
Dual match season opens on Saturday, Jan. 15 when the Cavaliers host Marshall and Longwood in a doubleheader. UVA will also host in-state foes Richmond (Jan. 21) and Old Dominion (Jan. 23).
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be hosting ITA Kickoff Weekend matches the weekend of Jan. 29. On the women’s side, Stanford, Arkansas and James Madison will all be vying for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships being held Feb. 11-14 in Madison, Wisc.
The Cavaliers’ conference schedule includes home matches against Boston College (Feb. 25), Syracuse (Feb. 27), Florida State (Mar. 18), Miami (Mar. 20), Virginia Tech (Apr. 3), Wake Forest (Apr. 8) and NC State (Apr. 10).
For the second-straight year, the ACC championships will be held at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga., from April 21-25.
The NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship will begin with regional action at sites the weekend of May 6-8. Super Regional play returns this season with the final 16 remaining teams will be held at eight sites on either May 13 or 14. The team finals, featuring eight teams, begin on May 19 in Champaign, Ill., with the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships taking place in after the conclusion of the team championship.
