Standing Hoo-vation
Sunday’s Washington Nationals game became an unofficial Ryan Zimmerman Appreciation Day. In the eighth inning of the 2021 MLB season finale, the Nationals substituted in Andrew Stevenson for Zimmerman, who exited the field for perhaps the final time in his long and illustrious baseball career. Zimmerman has not yet officially announced his retirement, but that decision is expected to come from him sometime this offseason. Check out this great piece that looks back on Mr. Nationals’ career with Washington and @UVABaseball. (He actually got two Hoo-Vations, the other coming before his first at-bat)
Nationals fans brought Ryan Zimmerman to tears with a standing ovation before his 1st at-bat today.
