UVA Moves up to Eighth at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

The No. 20 Virginia men’s golf team had a 14-shot improvement over its first-round score to move into eighth place after 36 holes at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 10-under 278 during Saturday’s second round for a two-day total of 6-under 570.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The No. 20 Virginia men’s golf team had a 14-shot improvement over its first-round score to move into eighth place after 36 holes at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 10-under 278 during Saturday’s second round for a two-day total of 6-under 570. Pepperdine continues to lead the 15-team field at 26-under 550.

All four of UVA’s scoring players shot under-par during the round. Junior Pietro Bovari and sophomores George Duangmanee and Chris Fosdick each recorded rounds of 3-under 69 while senior Sam Jung shot 1-under 71. Freshman Deven Patel rounded out the day with a 78 for UVA.

Bovari heads into the final round in 13th place at 4-under 140. Duangmanee is 21st at 2-under 142 and Fosdick is 25th at 1-under 143. Jung stands in 42nd place at 1-over 145. Patel is 70th at 153.

Virginia will be paired with Georgia Tech and Duke during Sunday’s final round. They tee off from the first tee at 8:30 a.m. Live results are online at Golfstat.com.
