WILMINGTON, N.C. – On a day when the fourth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team dropped back to seventh place in the team standings, first-year Amanda Sambach remained in third place in the individual standings for the Cavaliers. Sambach shot even par 72 for a 36-hole total of 1-under 141. She trails tournament-leading Mikaela Schulz of Michigan by four strokes heading into Sunday’s final round.

Virginia shot 6-over 584 on Saturday and slid back to seventh place in the 18-team field. The Cavaliers’ two-day total stands at 8-over 584. Michigan continues to lead the field at 8-under 558.

Sophomore Jennifer Cleary finished the round in 11th place at 1-under 143 after shooting 2-over 74. Graduate student Beth Lillie and junior Virginia Bossi are in 52nd position at 6-over 150. Bossi posted a round of 75 while Lillie shot 73. Senior Riley Smyth is in 76th place at 155. She shot 75 on the day.

Junior Celeste Valinho, who is competing as an individual, is also in 52nd place after carding a 75 on Saturday.

Virginia will be paired with Clemson and NC State for the final round. Teams will tee off at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start.
