UVA Rowing Announces Co-Captains

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Abbie Bird and Liv Kimche have been named co-captains of the 2021-22 Virginia rowing team, head coach Kevin Sauer announced Monday (Nov. 1).

Sauer also announced Tahne Badenhorst and Nel Straub as third and second-year class representatives, respectively.

“I very much look forward to these fine young women leading our team,” Sauer said.

Bird helped the Varsity Eight to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships and was part of the ACC champion V8. She earned CRCA/Pocock second-team All-America honors and was named to the All-ACC Academic team and ACC Honor Roll.

Kimche earned ACC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2019 and is a two-time member of the ACC Honor Roll.

Badenhorst helped the Second Varsity Eight to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships and was part of the ACC champion Second Varsity Eight, while Straub was named to the ACC Honor Roll in 2021.

The Cavaliers host the Rivanna Romp on Sunday, Nov. 14 at Noon.
