CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Jayden Gardner was named Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) University Division All-State Second Team, VaSID announced Wednesday (April 13).

Gardner helped lead Virginia (21-14) to the NIT quarterfinals. He ranked seventh in the ACC in field goal percentage (50.1%) and free throw percentage (79.3%), 12th in scoring (15.3 ppg) and 17th in rebounding (6.4 rpg). Gardner reached double figures in scoring in 29 games, including seven 20-point efforts.

VaSID Player of the Year Darius McGhee (Liberty) was joined by Keve Aluma (Virginia Tech), Jake Stephens (VMI), Josh Oduro (George Mason) and Joe Bryant Jr. (Norfolk State) on the first team.

Justin Hill (Longwood), Jacob Gilyard (Richmond), Vince Williams Jr. (VCU), Tyler Burton (Richmond) and Justyn Mutts (Virginia Tech) joined Gardner on the second team.

Virginia Tech’s Mike Young was named VaSID University Division Coach of the Year and Honor Huff was named rookie of the year. Gilyard earned defensive player of the year accolades.
