Fan Experience Initiatives for 2022 UVA Football Season
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – With kickoff of the 2022 Virginia football season set for next weekend, Cavalier fans can expect a number of new game day experiences and upgrades when they visit Scott Stadium. Many of these initiatives are the result from fan input and surveys from the 2021 season.
Season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets for all games are available for purchase at UVATix.com.
Wahoo Walk
The Wahoo Walk is back. Approximately 2.5 hours before each home game, the UVA Football team will be dropped off at the southeast corner entrance of Scott Stadium off Whitehead Road. Fans are encouraged to attend and cheer on the Hoos as they enter Scott Stadium.
Fan Fest
The Cavalier Fan Fest returns to the Aquatics and Fitness Center this year. Open 2.5 hours before the game, and closing 40 minutes prior to kickoff, Fan Fest will feature balloon artists, a face painting station, a photo zone, a coloring zone, cornhole and more. Admission is free.
New Cavalier on Horseback
When Virginia takes the field this season it will be led by a new Cavalier on horseback. Julie Caruccio takes on the role following the retirement of longtime Cavalier rider Kim Kirschnick, who handled those duties for 21 years. Read more about Julie’s story here.
Mobile Ticket Ambassadors
In an effort to serve all attendees at Scott Stadium, mobile ticket ambassadors will be stationed outside all gates to answer questions and assist with last-minute ticketing issues prior to scanning at the gate.
New 4th Quarter Tradition
Beginning this year, UVA Football will have a prominent alum lead the stadium in a “GO HOOS” chant capped by a hype video to energize the stadium to start the 4th quarter.
Sing the Good Old Song
Head coach Tony Elliott and the team will gather in front of the student-section and sing the Good Old Song after every game. Fans are encouraged to stay and join the team in this new game day tradition.
Pergola Lights
The iconic pergola at the open end of the stadium has a new look this year. Custom LED lights have been installed to light up Scott Stadium for night games in Orange and Blue.
Cavman’s Crew
Junior fans of the Orange and Blue are encouraged to join Cavman’s Crew. Membership is $25 annually and members will receive a Cavman’s Crew All-Star Kit. As a benefit of membership, Crew members will receive free admission to select home events across the academic year, including two tickets to the ODU game on Sept. 17. Birthday/Anniversary Messages
Fans celebrating a special occasion at Scott Stadium can take it to the next level by making it onto HooVision. New this year, fans can purchase time on the board to share with tens of thousands of the Cavalier faithful. Click here for more details.
Vet Tix
Virginia is proud to honor and welcome veterans of our armed forces and thank them for their service. Fans unable to attend games at Scott Stadium can donate their tickets to VetTix and treat a veteran to the game. Information on how to participate will be available in the near future.
Expanded Alcohol Options
UVA will offer additional points of sale for alcohol this year. For all lower concourse stand options, fans will experience a grab-n-go option, designed to increase efficiency. Additionally, the alcohol options have been increased including the Wahoowa Pale Ale, Cavalier Lager, Hoo Rah Ray IPA and Virginia Crush.
CavCard
Season ticket members will receive special discounts and benefits at local Charlottesville businesses through partnerships created by Virginia Sports Properties. Click here for those offers.
Fan Loyalty Program
Fans who attend all seven home games this season will receive a custom gift courtesy of UVA Athletics at the Coastal Carolina game on Nov. 19. Fans who qualify will receive an email notification the week of the game for distribution details.
Rally Towel Games
Twice this season UVA will distribute 25,000 rally towels to enhance the game day atmosphere. Those games include the All Orange game Sept. 3 vs. Richmond to kick off the Tony Elliott era and the Nov. 12 contest vs. Pitt on Heroes Appreciation Day.
Live-Look Ins
HooVision will provide live look-ins to other games of note around the ACC and country so fans can keep up with the action and top plays across the college football landscape. Enhanced fans will also be on display at the Scott Stadium video boards.
Giant Inflatable Cavman
The newest visual addition to the Carl Smith Center is a giant inflatable Cavman. Standing 25-feet tall, Cavman will be a must for pre-game photo opportunities. Follow @VirginiaSports on Twitter for game day locations of UVA’s towering mascot.
WiFi Upgrades
Scott Stadium will have enhanced WiFi service this year from TING to provide patrons high-speed Internet access. In addition, WiFi service has been expanded to stadium gates to assist fans in accessing their mobile tickets for entry.
New Displays and Visuals
Fans walking the concourse this season will notice several areas with renewed branding and visuals. The displays throughout the concourse as well as on the ends of the stadium on the hillside are intended to honor the 4th Side.
Light Improvements
New lighting systems have been installed on the perimeter of Scott Stadium to aid fans to provide more illumination and reduce the noise created from previous mobile lighting solutions.
Fan Assist
The Fan Assist Program is available on game day for all patrons with a nonemergency issue. Add the Fan Assist number (226786) into your phone’s contacts prior to your attendance and text HOOS and your location for quick response on game days.
In-Stadium Hosts Are Back
A couple of familiar faces will return as in-stadium hosts this season with plenty of new programming and features planned. Jamar Hicks will serve as the in-game host with Ahmad Hawkins returning as the in-game analyst.
Student-Athlete Video Board Content
More content will be featured on HooVision to show the value Virginia Athletics places on its commitment to student-athlete development and to spotlight the stories and interests of the Cavaliers.
DJ Jealousy
Scott Stadium welcomes DJ Jealousy to this year’s game day experience. Highly-regarded and versatile, DJ Jealousy has a wide-range of event experience including serving as the DJ for the Washington Commanders and Washington Wizards. Expect a vibrant musical experience to Rock Scott thanks to this talented entertainer.
Big Energy Moments
To enhance “Big Energy Moments” – defensive third downs, kickoffs, touchdowns or key series throughout the game – the stadium’s audio and visual elements will focus on providing noise prompts to generate an improved home-field advantage.

Customer-Oriented Staffing to Increase
Through its partnerships with RMC and Aramark, UVA has reviewed fan feedback from the 2021 season and identified areas of focus to change. These groups have spent the offseason developing a staffing plan to better serve patrons at Scott Stadium this season.
Arrive Early, Be Loud
As UVA Football builds The Model Program, the Cavalier faithful are a critical component of the program’s success. All fans are encouraged to begin making their way to the stadium 40 minutes prior to kickoff each game to be in seats in time for the pregame spirit show and team runout. All fans are encouraged to be loud and supportive of our student-athletes throughout the duration of each contest as we aim to make Scott Stadium the best home-field advantage in the ACC.
