CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Six members of the Virginia women’s tennis team will be competing in the ITA Atlantic Regional, being held Oct. 20-24 in Blacksburg, Va.
As four Cavaliers have advanced to the semifinals, the final two rounds of the tournament will now be played on Monday, Oct. 24 at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The semifinals will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the championship match.
Grad student Julia Adams, senior Natasha Subhash, junior Sara Ziodato, and sophomore Elaine Chervinsky will all be competing on Monday.
Virginia players have won the singles title four times, including twice by Subhash (2019 and 2021). Chervinsky was the runner-up in singles last year after falling to Subhash in the final. Subhash is the only Cavalier to twice earn the regional title.
UVA has twice won the doubles title, most recently in 2015. Collard and Hibah Shaikh were the runners-up in doubles last year.
The regional champions and finalists will earn invitations to compete at the 2022 ITA National Fall Championships, being held Nov. 2-6 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
Melodie Collard and Meggie Navarro also played in the tournament.
