CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four members of the Virginia field hockey team were named to the 2022 All-ACC Field Hockey Teams in honors announced on Monday (Oct. 31) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Grad student striker Annie McDonough and freshman midfielder Daniela Mendez-Trendler were named to the first team, while senior midfielder Adele Iacobucci and freshman goalkeeper Jet Trimborn were named to the second team.

A two-term team captain, McDonough leads the team in assists with five this season. The fifth-year has scored 13 career goals with 20 assists in her 93 games playing for the Cavaliers. This is McDonough’s second time earning All-Conference honors after being on the second team last year.

Mendez-Trendler is second on the team in scoring, with eight goals and three assists for 19 points in her rookie season. She was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goals against Louisville and William & Mary earlier this month.

Iacobucci, a two-time All-NFHCA All-Region First Team honoree, earns All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. She scored the game-winning goals against Saint Joseph’s and Liberty.

Trimborn has an 8-3 record with four shutouts, ranking second in the ACC and sixth in the nation with a 1.06 goals-against average. She was twice named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week this season.

The Cavaliers begin play on Tuesday at the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Championship, which will be held Nov. 1-2 and 4 (Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday) at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium on the campus of Duke University.
