Vander Plas Earns CSC Academic All-District® Honors
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia forward Ben Vander Plas was named to the Men’s Basketball Division I CSC Academic All-District®Team, announced Tuesday (Feb. 21) by the College Sports Communicators.
Vander Plas earns his third Academic All-District Team honor after posting perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall semester at UVA. Vander Plas, who was named the CoSIDA Division I Men’s Basketball Academic All-America®of the Year in 2021-22, is a graduate transfer enrolled in the professional learning program at Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree in communications studies and master’s degrees in sports administration and management from Ohio University.
Vander Plas has averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds for the No. 6 Cavaliers (21-4, 13-3 ACC). He has reached double figures in scoring in nine contests, including a season-high 20 points at Miami. He registered his 15th career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds at Louisville.
Academic All-District®honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America®ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced at a later date.
No. 6 Virginia returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 22) at Boston College (13-15, 7-10 ACC). Tipoff at Conte Forum is set for 7 p.m. on Regional Sports Networks.
