CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Dean and Markel Families Men’s Head Basketball Coach Tony Bennett announced Thursday (April 20) the addition of guard Andrew Rohde (Milwaukee, Wis.) to the Cavaliers’ program.

Rohde has signed a financial aid agreement and is transferring to Virginia after playing one season at St. Thomas (Minn.).

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound guard averaged 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists en route to All-Summit League First Team, Freshman of the Year and All-Newcomer Team honors at St. Thomas in 2022-23. Rohde shot 44.8 percent from the field, 32 percent from 3-point range and 81.5 percent from the free throw line. The Kyle Macy Freshman of the Year Award finalist scored 531 points, becoming the first Tommie first-year player to score 500 points in a season.

“We are excited to add Andrew to the Virginia basketball family,” Bennett said. “Andrew is a talented guard, who had a terrific freshman season at St. Thomas. We look forward to him joining our program.”

Rohde was named First-Team All-State and All-Conference after averaging 28.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.2 steals as a high school senior at Brookfield Central in 2020-21. He led the Lancers to a runner-up finish in the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament.

“I knew UVA was the right fit from the start,” Rohde said. “Coach Bennett and the rest of the staff have developed such an amazing culture with great people. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing program and play with this group of guys. I am ready to get to work!”
