Dorfman Takes Fourth Place At US Open Championships
LAS VEGAS – Colden Dorfman of the Virginia wrestling team took a fourth-place finish at the US Open Championships in the U20 Division on Sunday (April 30) to close out competition for the Cavaliers at the event.
Dorfman advanced to the semifinals in the first day of action with a run that included wins over the seventh-seeded wrestler and second-seeded wrestler. He moved to the consolation bracket after dropping that semifinal match and went 1-1 on Sunday to close out the weekend.
In his consolation semifinal match, Dorfman defeated Steven Burrell Jr to advance to the third-place match. Burrell, is a Virginia signee and will join the program for the 2023-24 academic year. He then faced top-seeded Sawyer Bartelt in the third-place match, wrestling to an 8-8 score before Bartelt was awarded the victory on criteria.
