CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four members of the Virginia softball team received Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators on Tuesday as the annual award winners were announced by the organization.

Senior first baseman Gabby Baylog, graduate student pitcher Jenny Bressler, sophomore third baseman Sarah Coon and junior outfielder Lauren VanAssche were all recognized for academic achievement and success on the playing field.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be in at least their second year of competition and have a minimum 3.5 career GPA and competed in at least 50 percent of the team’s competitions at their position(or a minimum of at least 10.0 innings pitched). Graduate students must have a minimum 3.5 graduate GPA and also had a 3.5 minimum GPA as an undergraduate.
