CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Graduate student Ashlyn McGovern and sophomore Rachel Clark were both named honorable mention All-Americans by ILWomen, the organization announced on Thursday (May 18).

McGovern and Clark are both IWLCA All-South Region First Team and US Lacrosse Magazine All-America First Team selections. The duo paced the Cavaliers attack all season, helping UVA to a fourth-place finish in the ACC and the most conference wins in program history.

McGovern closed out her UVA career with 204 career goals, ranking third all-time in UVA history. She was second on the team with 61 goals, finishing just behind Clark. She is third in the ACC with 3.47 goals per game and fifth in total goals. McGovern scored multiple goals in 16 of the 18 games and had hat tricks in 13 of those games. She scored at least one goal in all but one game during the 2023 season.

Clark led Virginia in goals and points for the second consecutive season. The attacker finished with 63 goals and 13 assists to total 76 points. Her 63 goals are the most at UVA by a second year and tied for eighth all-time in a single season with McGovern’s 63 from 2022. Clark is second in the ACC in goals per game (3.53) and fourth in total goals. She scored multiple goals in 15 games with 13 hat tricks. Clark also led the Cavaliers with five game-winning goals during the season.
