O’Ferrall, Woolfolk Make Collegiate National Team
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Griff O’Ferrall and Jay Woolfolk were selected to the 31-man Collegiate National Team roster after the completion of 2023 Collegiate National Team Training Camp, a four-game intrasquad series played at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
The Cavaliers are one of six schools nationally with multiple selections to this year’s team. It also marks the third time UVA has had multiple players selected to the CNT (2006, 2021 & 2023). Virginia has been represented on each of the last six collegiate national teams, including the summer of 2018 where Brian O’Connor served as pitching coach. A total of 15 Cavaliers have played for Team USA, 13 of them since O’Connor’s first year at Virginia in 2004.
In the four games playing for the Stars, O’Ferrall went 5-for-14 (.357) with a double, two runs scored and an RBI at the plate. Woolfolk appeared in three of the four games and did not surrender a run in three innings of work on the mound. He struck out five batters and contributed an inning of the Stars’ combined shutout against the Stripes on Wednesday (June 26).
