Sambach Opens Play at U.S. Amateur
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s golfer Amanda Sambach starts her opening round at the 123th annual U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship today (Aug. 7) in Los Angeles at Bel-Air Country Club. Sambach, a junior, is part of the 156-player field who will compete at the event that runs through Sunday.
It marks her third time competing at the U.S. Amateur Championship. Last year she was 17th in stroke play and advanced to the round of 32 of match play. In 2020 she qualified for the tournament but did not advance out of stroke play.
The field will play 36 holes of stroke play before a cut (top 64 players) for the match play portion of the event.
During the first round, Sambach is schedule to tee off at 1:55 p.m. PDT from the 10th tee.
