CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia sophomore midfielder Daniela Mendez-Trendler (Towson, Md.) has been named to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team in honors announced Monday (Aug. 21) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Virginia has also been voted to finish second in the predicted order of finish by the league’s head coaches. The Cavaliers received three of seven first-place votes.

Mendez-Trendler earned All-ACC First Team honors last year with eight goals and 19 points. She was the sixth UVA freshman to earn ITA All-America honors in her rookie campaign when she was named to the third team.

The Cavaliers advanced to the ACC Championship match last season before suffering a 3-2 loss against North Carolina in the final.

The ACC leads all conferences with 22 NCAA field hockey titles. The conference has placed at least one team in the national championship game in 30 of the past 34 seasons, including last year’s title by North Carolina.
