Virginia Sweeps Spider Alumni Open, Timm and Sado Record Wins
RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 10 and No. 11 ranked Virginia men’s and women’s cross country programs kicked off the 2023 campaigns with a pair of victories at the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday (Sept. 2) in Richmond. From Director of Track and Cross Country Vin Lananna:
“This was a good way for both of our teams to begin the season. We saw a pair of very strong performances from both the men and women. We have more work to do, but we have the makings of two very strong cross country teams.”
Panorama Farms & XC23
Virginia will host the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 18 at Panorama Farms. The 2023 championships will mark just the second time Virginia has hosted the event and the first time since the 1987 championships.
In the build-up to the NCAA Championships, the Cavaliers host a pair of meets at Panorama Farms. The home schedule begins with the Virginia Invitational (Sept. 23) featuring a highly competitive field including many of the qualifying teams from the 2022 championships. Virginia will also host the XC23 Pre-National (Oct. 14) which will serve as an opportunity for NCAA Division I teams from across the country to preview the course for the 2023 NCAA Championships.
