CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Sophomore forward Meredith McDermott has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 5) with the release of its weekly honors.

McDermott tallied three goals on the week, including her second brace of the season with both goals against West Virginia in a 2-1 victory over the Mountaineers. It was her second brace of the season after also tallying a pair of goals against Nevada in the season opener. McDermott also hit the opening goal in Sunday’s win over VCU with her goal at the 0:55 mark ranking as the fifth-fastest goal scored in the regular season by a Cavalier.

She is now tied for the team lead in goals with five on the season and is second on the team with 12 points this year.

McDermott and the Cavaliers return to action on Thursday (Sept. 7) when Virginia hosts Iowa in a 7 p.m. contest at Klöckner stadium.
