Cavaliers to Host Virginia Tech in Inaugural Volleyball Match at JPJ
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team will host Virginia Tech at John Paul Jones Arena on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. in a Commonwealth Clash event, presented by Smithfield, Virginia Athletics announced Wednesday (Sept. 6). The match marks the first volleyball contest to be held in JPJ since the arena opened in 2006.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at UVATix.com or by calling the UVA Athletics ticket office at 434-924-8821. Parking will be available to the public free of charge in all surrounding JPJ lots, including the JPJ garage.
“Competing in JPJ is a dream come true for our student-athletes, our program and our sport,” said Virginia volleyball head coach Shannon Wells. “This has been on our radar since I arrived in May of 2021 and I want to thank Carla Williams and our administration, the JPJ and UVA support staff, our alumnae and incredible donors who have greatly contributed to make this happen. We are constantly striving to make history at UVA, and this is another step in the right direction.”
TICKET INFORMATION
All Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF) members who donated $100 or more in 2022 or who have made their 2023 VAF annual fund pledge have exclusive access to tickets for courtside-reserved and general admission tickets.
General admission tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at UVATix.com or by calling the UVA Athletics ticket office at 434-924-8821. General admission tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. Discounted group tickets are available in advance for groups of 20 or more individuals for $6 each.

Fans unable to attend but would like to support the match can purchase a $10 community ticket, which will be distributed by the athletic department to a local non-profit organization.
All other 2023 regular-season home matches will continue to be held at Memorial Gymnasium. All remaining matches in Mem Gym are free to the public (no ticket purchase necessary).
The showdown between the Cavaliers and Virginia Tech will also be nationally televised on ACC Network. UVA swept the season series over the Hokies in 2022.
