CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team opens the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 15-17) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.
The Cavaliers opened the tournament by winning six singles matches and two doubles contests on Friday.
On Saturday, the Cavaliers added seven more singles wins and a pair of doubles victories. Sara Ziodato won two singles matches, taking out opponents from Maryland and Princeton. Natasha Subhash had a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win against Maia Sung of Princeton while Blanca Pico Navarro had a 6-0, 6-0 win against Katherine Hung of Maryland.
Players from Virginia, James Madison, Iowa State, Maryland, Penn State, Princeton, West Virginia are competing as individuals in singles and doubles matches.
The tournament wraps up at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Virginia players are scheduled to play during the 12 p.m. wave of matches.
