Annor Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday (Sept. 19) that Virginia freshman Stephen Annor has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week following a pair of breakout performances in which Annor scored three times in two games.
When the Cavaliers traveled to No. 9 James Madison (Sept. 12), it was Stephen Annor who scored less than five minutes into the match. His second goal of the season was crucial in securing a draw on the road as Virginia tied with JMU 1-1.
Virginia’s ACC home opener served as a coming out party for Annor. He scored the opening goal in the 28th minute and then put the game out of reach with an impressive headed goal in the 69th minute to secure three points for the Cavaliers. Annor’s brace was the first by a Cavalier since Phil Horton scored a pair of goals at Pitt last season (9/30/22).
Annor claims the first ACC weekly honor of his collegiate career. After scoring three goals in one week, he now leads the team with four on the season.
