CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 6 Virginia field hockey team (5-3, 0-1 ACC) returns to conference play on Friday by taking on No. 10 Syracuse (6-1, 0-1 ACC) at 2 p.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y,

  • Virginia and Syracuse were tied for No. 6 in last week’s NFHCA poll. The Cavaliers remained at No. 6 in this week’s poll while the Orange dropped to No. 10
  • Daniela Mendez-Trendler is ninth in the ACC in goals-per-game at 0.50 and is seventh in points per game (1.50)
  • Laura Janssen has a career-best four assists this season. She had five assists in her first four seasons combined. She and Mendez-Trendler are tied for fifth in the ACC in assists per game (0.50)
  • Noa Boterman leads the ACC in defensive saves with three. The national leaders have four this season
  • Boterman converted a penalty stroke against Maryland on Monday. She is 2-for-2 in strokes this season
