CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Gretchen Walsh was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after sweeping her two individual events and posting some of the fastest times in the NCAA in UVA’s dual meet win at No. 7 Florida.

Walsh led off both UVA first-place relay teams and added wins in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle against the Gators. The Nashville, Tenn., native, posted a NCAA A time and top time in the NCAA this season with a 50.29 to win the 100 back. She won the 100 free by over a second, finishing in 47.19 to sweep her individual events.

Walsh closed out the meet with a 46.90 leadoff split in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Her 100 free split is the fastest so far this season in the NCAA. She helped the 200-yard medley relay team win first in a NCAA A time of 1:35.89, leading off with the backstroke leg.

Walsh and the Cavaliers will return to action when with a home dual meet against Texas on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
