Jack Aikins Wins Gold, Reilly Tiltmann Silver on Second Day of Pan American Games
SANTIAGO, Chile – Junior Jack Aikins set a Pan American record to win the 200-meter backstroke gold and senior Reilly Tiltmann took silver on Sunday (Oct. 22) at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
AIkins won gold and broke the Pan American 200 back record that was last set in 2015. He clocked in with a time of 1:56.58 to lead a 1-2 Team USA finish in the event. It was the first individual medal of the event for Aikins.
Tiltmann also picked up her first individual medal with silver in the women’s 200-meter backstroke. She completed the USA sweep of the top-two podium spots on the women’s side as well. Tiltmann finished with a time of 2:12.79.
UVA alum Paige Madden swam on the mixed 4×100-meter freestyle relay team in prelims that ended up winning silver in the finals.
