CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Malik Washington was named the ACC Receiver of the Week for the second-straight week on Monday (Oct. 30). Washington was recognized as the league’s top wideout for the third time this season.

Washington joined Cavalier wideouts Herman Moore (1990), Canaan Severin (2015) and Dontayvion Wicks (2021) as the only UVA wide receivers to earn the award multiple times in the same year. Moore went on to win the weekly accolade four times in 1990, the most ever by a Cavalier wide receiver.

Washington matched his career-high with 12 catches for 152 yards in Saturday’s overtime loss on the road against Miami. A total of 97 of his 152 yards came after the catch. Washington’s 64-yard catch and run in the second quarter tied a career-long reception and was the second-longest play from scrimmage this season for Virginia. His 12 catches tied as the most by an FBS player during the week nine and he extended his consecutive games with a reception streak to 33.

It marked his sixth 100-yard game of the season, tying him with Wicks and Germane Crowell for the most in a single season in UVA history. Washington has put together three-straight 100-yard games (112 vs. W&M; 115 vs. North Carolina; 152 vs. Miami) for the second time this season. He’s the only player ever at UVA to have three-straight 100-yard games twice in one season.

After Saturday’s action, Washington ranks third in the country and leads the ACC in receptions (68), receptions per game (8.5), receiving yards (935) and receiving yards per game (116.9).
