CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Reece Beekman was named to the 2023-24 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s Preseason 50 Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Monday (Nov. 6).

Beekman is among the 50 men’s players to watch during the season-long competition for the 2024 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s Player of the Year honor.

In 2022-23, Beekman was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, All-Defensive Team and All-ACC Third Team. He ranked second nationally and first in the ACC in assist/turnover ratio (3.36), and ranked second in steals (1.8 spg) and third in assists (5.3 apg). Beekman has averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 92 career games (87 starts) for the Cavaliers.

The midseason 30 team will be announced in February, and then the competition will be narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists in early March. Following those results, four finalists will be named and the winner of the 2024 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy for Men’s Player of the Year will be announced in April.
