Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia women’s basketball head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton announced the signing of Breona Hurd (Waynesville, Mo.) to the Cavaliers’ 2024 signing class on Wednesday (Nov. 8).

“I am super excited about the addition of Bre Hurd,” said Agugua-Hamilton. “We have been recruiting Bre since she was in the ninth grade. Even at an early age, I knew she had potential to play at this level. She is a versatile forward that can shoot, pass, and score in the low post. She is physical, can rebound and start the break. What’s most encouraging is she still has so much room for growth. She is a fantastic human being with a genuine heart and soul. I could not be happier to welcome her into our family!”

A 6-2 forward, Hurd is a four-star prospect and currently No. 93 in the espnW HoopGurlz recruiting rankings. She attends Waynesville High School, where she has amassed 1,648 career points and accumulated 801 rebounds. Hurd also set the Tigers’ single-game school record with 47 points on Dec. 17, 2022. Hurd was awarded all-state honors both her sophomore and junior seasons.

On the travel circuit, Hurd competes for Kingdom Hoop Missouri. She is expected to begin training with the Cavaliers next summer.
