CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Cavaliers (4-0) walked away with a 62-33 victory over Texas Southern (0-3) on Thursday night (Nov. 16) at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Hoos, led by Ryan Dunn (15 points, four blocks and three steals) held the Tigers to only 26 percent shooting on the night (12-of-46 from the field) and forced a season-high 20 turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow start offensively, UVA took a 17-7 lead over Texas Southern after sparking a 10-0 run midway through the first stanza, which was capped off by a ferocious Dunn dunk. At the break, Hoos were ahead of the Tigers 26-14 behind six points, three blocks and three steals by Reece Beekman. The Cavaliers held Texas Southern to only 5-of-24 shooting in the first half (21 percent).

Virginia continued to have full control of the game in the second half, as the Hoos went on a commanding 14-0 scoring run and held the Tigers scoreless for eight minutes in the second half.

THE GAME BALL GOES TO:
Ryan Dunn. Dunn led all players in scoring with a career high 15 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. On the defensive side of the ball, he set a career high in blocks with four while also chipping in three steals.
