FORT MYERS, Fla. – No. 24 Virginia (4-1) had its four-game winning streak snapped as Wisconsin knocked off the Cavaliers at the Fort Myers Tip-Off, 65-41, on Monday night (Nov. 20).

UVA guard Reece Beekman scored a game-high 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, dished out seven assists and added two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Virginia and Wisconsin opened the contest with a gritty defensive battle, as the Badgers took a narrow 10-7 lead within the first six minutes. Ryan Dunn and Blake Buchanan were active at the rim as each tallied two blocks in that span. The Hoos struggled to get any offensive momentum going and went on a five-minute scoring drought before a pair of Beekman free throws and an Andrew Rohde 3-pointer broke the seal. After some back-and-forth sequences, Wisconsin took a 28-18 lead into halftime.

The two sides came out of the break trading scoring runs as Wisconsin opened the half with a 7-2 run, while the Hoos answered with a run of 10-3 to cut the deficit to five [40-35]. The Badgers then kicked it into high gear for the rest of the game, outscoring Virginia 25-6 for the rest of the game.  Beekman scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half. The Badgers shot 50 percent (5-10) from 3-point range in the second half, and UVA shot 29 percent (2-7).
