CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s lacrosse head coach Sonia LaMonica announced the Cavaliers’ 2024 schedule today (Nov. 20), that includes nine home matches featuring five NCAA tournament teams.

LaMonica will coach her first game at Virginia when the Hoos’ 16-game schedule opens at Liberty on Friday, Feb. 9.

The home slate for UVA begins with a three-game homestand in February. UVA will host Stanford (Feb. 11), Princeton (Feb. 17) and begin ACC play at home with North Carolina (Feb. 23). Other home games feature Richmond (March 6), Pitt (March 16), James Madison (March 20), Syracuse (March 23), VCU (April 3) and Boston College (April 13).

Virginia will also play a neutral site game against Cornell at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Along with the season-opener at Liberty, UVA’s road games will include trips to Clemson (March 2), Notre Dame (March 9), Duke (March 30), Louisville (April 6) and Virginia Tech (April 18).

The 2024 ACC Championship will begin with play-in games for No. 7/10 and No. 8/9 teams hosted by the higher seeds on Sunday, April 21. The quarterfinals (April 24), semifinals (April 26) and championship (April 28) will be played in Charlotte, N.C.

Virginia is entering is 49th season as a program and first under LaMonica. Virginia advanced to its 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2023 and finished with an 11-7 overall record and 6-3 record in ACC play. UVA’s six conference wins were the most in program history.

The Cavaliers return 16 letterwinners from last season. Seniors Morgan Schwab and Mackenzie Hoeg are the top returning scorers. Schwab was second on the team with 69 points (20 goals, 49 assists) and Hoeg was fifth with 63 points (40 goals, 4 assists). Hoeg also led the team with 27 ground balls and was second in caused turnovers (13) and draw controls (54).
