CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (11-3, 2-1 ACC) picked up its second conference win of the season in a 77-53 win over Louisville (5-8, 0-2 ACC) on Wednesday night (Jan. 3) at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Hoos enjoyed a balanced offensive effort, as Isaac McKneely (18 points, 7-for-11 FG), Ryan Dunn (15 points, 10 rebounds), Taine Murray (12 points, 5-for-6 FG) and Reece Beekman (11 points, eight assists) all finished in double-figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Louisville opened with an early 5-2 lead, Virginia orchestrated a 7-0 run to take the lead and did not fall behind the Cardinals for the rest of the contest. After a 10-2 run gave the Hoos a 24-14 lead at the under 8:00 media timeout, UVA sparked a 9-0 scoring run which was capped off by an alley-oop from Beekman to Dunn. McKneely nailed a long two-pointer at the buzzer to send Virginia into the break with a 37-22 lead.

The Cardinals and Cavaliers traded buckets for a majority of the second half, as the Hoos shut down any comeback attempt from the visitors. A 7-2 and 8-0 run midway through the half put the game out of reach for Louisville as Virginia moved to 2-1 in ACC play.
