Cavaliers Set to Compete at Virginia Tech Invitational
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to travel to Blacksburg, Va. and compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House. Events will begin Friday (Jan. 12) from 2:30 p.m. through 9:05 p.m. The competition will resume Saturday from 11 a.m. through 3:35 p.m.

Hoos in the Rankings
The initial USTFCCCA Track and Field Ranking Index has yet to be released for the 2024 season. The first rankings of the new campaign are scheduled to be announced on Monday, January 22.
Last Time Out
The Cavaliers made their debut for the 2024 season ahead of the winter break when individuals competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener and the Liberty Kickoff.
Yasin Sado kicked off his campaign with a bang setting a Virginia record in the 5000 meters. Sado surpassed former teammate Derek Johnson to set the UVA record with a massive personal-best time of 13:31.87.
Conor Murphy and Margot Appleton had big days each posted impressive performances at Virginia’s season opener as well. Murphy posted the second-fastest 3,000 meter time in UVA history posting a time of 7:53.7. Appleton turned 3000 meters in 9:08.68 to place 15th among collegiate runners in the competition.

Virginia will return to Rector Field House to compete at the Hokie Invitational on Friday (Jan. 19) and Saturday (Jan. 20).
