Virginia Travels to Penn State National Open Friday
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to travel to Blacksburg, Va. and compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House. Events will begin Friday (Jan. 19) from 4 p.m. through 9:10 p.m. The competition will resume Saturday (Jan. 20) from 11:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.

Hoos in the Rankings
The initial USTFCCCA Track and Field Ranking Index has yet to be released for the 2024 season. The first rankings of the new campaign are scheduled to be announced on Monday, January 22.
Last Time Out
Virginia kicked off the 2024 calendar year at Rector Field House for the Virginia Tech Invitational. The Cavaliers posted seven total event wins while three Virginia athletes put their names on the all-time performance list.
Peter Djan posted an impressive victory in the 60-meter hurdles when the sophomore clocked a personal-best time of 7.85 seconds which ranks third all-time at Virginia. That same day, Virginia’s Bree Lumpkin posted an impressive personal-best in the weight throw marking 17.45 meters (57′ 3″) which ranks fifth all-time on the Virginia performance list.
Carly Tarentino headlined the second day of competition soaring to a victory in the women’s high jump. The Cavalier junior cleared a height of 1.75 meters (5′ 8.75″) to set a personal-best and land at No. 8 in the event on the UVA performance list.
