CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior guard Reece Beekman (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday (Jan. 22).

Beekman averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals as Virginia (13-5, 4-3 ACC) claimed victories against in-state rival Virginia Tech (65-57) and Georgia Tech ( 75-66).

He posted 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals in the Cavaliers’ home win against the Hokies on Jan. 17.

Beekman added his fourth career double-double with 19 points and 11 assists at Georgia Tech on Jan. 20 as the Cavaliers earned their first road win of the season. In addition, Beekman became the third Cavalier to reach 200 career steals with two in the win.

Beekman shot 44.8 percent (13 of 29) from the field, 44.4 percent (4 of 9) from 3-point range and 83.3 percent (5 of 6) from the charity stripe in the wins.

Virginia hosts NC State (13-5, 5-2 ACC) on Wednesday (Jan. 24). Tipoff at John Paul Jones Arena is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network.
