CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 6 Virginia men’s tennis team (5-3) hosts No. 24 Georgia (4-1) on Friday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • This is the Cavaliers’ fifth match (out of nine total) against a ranked opponent this season
  • Jeffrey von der Schulenburg leads the team with 13 singles victories this season
  • Måns Dahlberg paces the team in dual match wins with a 5-1 record
  • The Cavaliers are a combined 10-1 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles
  • Georgia leads the all-time series 14-3 but the Cavaliers have won the last three meetings
  • UGA’s last victory over the Cavaliers was in the 2008 NCAA Semifinals. UVA fell to Georgia in three-straight NCAA tournaments (2006 quarterfinals, 2007-08 semifinals)
  • This is the first meeting of the two teams outside of a tournament setting since 1985. The last nine dual matches between the two teams have either been in the NCAA Championship or during the ITA National Team Indoor Championships

  • The Cavaliers head to New York to compete in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, being held Feb. 16-19 at Columbia University and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center
