Cavaliers Head West for San Diego State Classic
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 25 Virginia women’s golf team heads west for its second event of the spring. The Cavaliers will compete at the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., on Monday and Tuesday. The 12-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and a single round on Tuesday. Play starts at 8 a.m. PT both days.
The field includes (NCAA Ranking) California Baptist, Colorado, Denver, Georgia (30), New Mexico, Oregon (7), San Diego State, San Francisco, South Carolina (6), Tulane and UNLV.
Virginia will be paired with San Diego State and South Carolina during Monday’s competition.
The Cavaliers’ lineup includes Amanda Sambach, Jaclyn LaHa, Rebecca Skoler, Megan Propeck and Celeste Valinho, the same group that competed for UVA at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club. Sambach, who is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA individual standings this week, led Virginia with a seventh-place finish in Mexico. LaHa placed ninth to post her first top-10 showing as a collegiate.
