UVA Opens Watersound Invitational in Fifth Place
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Behind a pair of 2-under scores, the No. 10 Virginia men’s golf team completed the first round of the Watersound Invitational in fifth place. UVA’s George Duangmanee and Deven Patel both shot 2-under 70 on Monday to stand tied for first ninth place after the opening 18 holes.
As a team, Virginia finished the first round at 2-under 286. Third-ranked Vanderbilt leads the 12-team field after shooting 10-under 278 to open the tournament.
UVA’s Ben James shot even par 72 and is in 25th place while Bryan Lee is 48th at 2-over 74. Josh Duangmanee rounded out the Cavaliers’ team scoring by shooting 3-over 75. He is in 56th position. Chris Fosdick, playing as a non-scoring individual, is 61st after posting a score of 76.
The Hoos will be paired with Mississippi State and NC State during Tuesday’s second round. Those teams will tee off from the 10th hole starting at 10 a.m.
