CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 8 Virginia men’s tennis team (8-4) opens ACC play this weekend, hosting No. 3 Wake Forest (10-3) on Friday, March 1 at 3 p.m. and No. 17 NC State (7-3) on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m.

Both matches are scheduled to be played on the outdoor courts of the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort. Any weather-related changes will be posted here as well as on the @uvamenstennis social media accounts.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Despite having a bye week, the Cavaliers dipped one spot in the updated ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 8
  • This is the sixth time this season the Cavaliers have faced a team ranked in the top five of the ITA rankings
  • Virginia has won 50 straight matches against ACC opponents (including conference matches, out-of-conference dual matches and tournament play). UVA’s last loss against an ACC foe was a 4-2 loss to UNC at ITA Indoors on Feb. 13, 2021
  • Virginia has not lost an outdoors match since falling against USC in the Round of 16 of the 2021 NCAA Championship (5/17/21)
  • Senior Chris Rodesch has moved into the top 10 of the ITA singles rankings. He is 8-2 this season with two wins against top 10 opponents
  • Freshman Dylan Dietrich made his debut in the ITA Singles rankings at No. 50. Dietrich is 8-3 in singles this season including a 6-2 mark at No. 2. He has won his last four completed matches
  • Senior Jeffrey von der Schulenburg leads the team with a 15-9 record in singles. He is 4-0 when playing on courts three and four
  • Virginia is 8-1 at No. 3 doubles this spring
  • Both Virginia and Wake Forest advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships
  • Wake Forest head coach Tony Bresky was an associate head coach at Virginia from 2002-10
  • Virginia leads the all-time series 66-25 and has won the last four meetings
  • Virginia leads the all-time series against the Wolfpack 61-15 and has won the last five meetings
