CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 13 Virginia women’s lacrosse team (5-1, 1-1 ACC) is set to face off with No. 23 Richmond (4-1, 0-0 A10) on Wednesday (March 6) in at Klöckner Stadium. First draw is set for 5 p.m. The contest will serve as Virginia’s UVA Strong game and fans are encouraged to wear their UVA Strong t-shirts to Klöckner Stadium.

A NEW ERA IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

  • UVA head coach Sonia LaMonica was appointed in July 2023 and takes over UVA’s storied program after serving as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Towson for the last 14 seasons. At Towson, she amassed a 139-91 record.
  • The LaMonica era began with a 3-0 start which has featured plenty of new Cavalier faces. Graduate transfer Katia Carnevale leads the Cavaliers in scoring with nine total goals including a four-goal performance on her UVA debut at Liberty.
  • After an overtime defeat to No. 8 North Carolina, Virginia got back into the win column with a 20-11 rout of Cornell on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters which featured a seven-point performance from captain Morgan Schwab.
  • Virginia comes off its first ACC win of the season after defeating Clemson by a margin of 18-12

ON THE HORIZON
The Cavaliers will hit the road when the team travels for an ACC clash with No. 4 Notre Dame on Saturday (March 9). First draw from South Bend is set for 12 p.m.
