UVA Remains in Fourth Place at The Hayt Collegiate After 36 Holes
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Despite improving on its first-round score by five strokes, the No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team did not move on the leaderboard and remains in fourth place after two rounds at The Hayt Collegiate. The Cavaliers stand at 7-over 583. The 14-team event is taking place at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Top-ranked North Carolina leads the field at 4-under 572.
Virginia, which posted a team score of 1-over 289, was led during the second round by Deven Patel’s 4-under 68. He moved up 19 spots in the individual standings and will enter Monday’s final round in sixth place at 2-under 142.
UVA’s Ben James shot 1-over 73 and dropped back to 12th place at even par 144. Chris Fosdick and Bryan Lee both posted rounds of 3-over 75. Fosdick is in 23rd place at 148 while Lee is tied with teammate Paul Chang for 42nd place at 151. Chang shot 73 during the second round.
Grayson Wotnosky, competing as an individual, is in 37th place at 150. He had a second-round score of 76.
