Josh Duangmanee’s 67 Helps to Keeps UVA in Second Place at Linger Longer
GREENSBORO, Ga. – Freshman Josh Duangmanee posted a career-best round of 5-under 67 to help the No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team remain in second place after 36 holes at the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Course at Reynolds Plantation. Duangmanee, who shot 3-over 75 during Sunday’s opening round, went bogey free on Monday while accumulating five birdies. He moved up to 23rd place at 2-under 142 entering Tuesday’s final round.
Virginia posted a second-round score of 9-under 279 as all five Cavaliers shot under par. UVA’s total of 21-under 555 trails only tournament-leader Alabama (-37, 539) in the 14-team field. Georgia is two shots behind Virginia after Monday’s play.
Bryan Lee continues to top the Cavaliers on the leaderboard. He is in seventh place at 6-under 138 after posting a score of 2-under 70 on Monday. Deven Patel, Ben James and Paul Chang all shot 1-under 71 during the second round. Patel and James are tied for 13th place at 4-under 140 while Chang is in 17th place at 3-under 141.
George Duangmanee, who is competing as an individual, was also tied for 17th place with a score of 141. He also carded a second-round score of 71.
Alabama’s Jonathan Griz continues to lead the field at 15-under 129. He is seven shots ahead of the next nearest competitor on the leaderboard.
Virginia will again be paired with Alabama and Georgia during Tuesday’s final round. Those teams tee off starting at 10:51 a.m. from the first tee. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
