CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia athletics department has selected Daktronics to manufacture and install a new 6,700-square-foot end zone video display along with a custom point-source audio system at Scott Stadium. The project is slated for this summer to be ready for the Cavaliers 2024 season.

“Daktronics is an industry leader for stadium and arena video displays and we are excited to showcase how this new videoboard will enhance our fan experience at Scott Stadium,” said Virginia athletic director Carla Williams. “The size and quality of the display will be a tremendous upgrade and obvious improvement. The new audio distribution system is another game day element that will be a welcome improvement and something our fans have requested in survey feedback. In addition to the enhancement of the fan experience, the state-of-the-art videoboard will afford us opportunities to strategically drive incremental revenue.”

End Zone Display Details
The new video display will feature 10-millimeter pixel spacing and light up more than six million pixels to deliver crisp, clear imagery to fans throughout Scott Stadium. The display will measure approximately 54 feet high by 125 feet wide, more than twice the size of the previous display, to deliver all the video, replays and graphics fans have come to expect at live sporting events. It is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show fan-engaging digital content and university messaging.

“Scott Stadium is a uniquely special college football venue,” said Fran Kulas, Daktronics sales representative. “Daktronics is excited to team up with the University of Virginia for another project on campus and we look forward to enhancing the experience for Hoos’ teams and fans for many years to come.”

Audio System Details
The custom audio system will be a point-source system at one end of the stadium to provide a booming audio experience throughout the seating bowl. This will be integrated into the video and scoring system to provide a complete audiovisual experience with full-range sound reproduction and clear, intelligible speech.
